Congratulations, a New Chair Elected, ENEP Opportunities and Upcoming Events

Welcome to the August edition of our newsletter and a really warm welcome to all of our new Chartered Environmentalists and Registered Environmental Technicians who have gained their registrations recently. Massive congratulations from the Society for the Environment team!  

We always want to hear thoughts from our registrants on how we can ensure you get the most recognition for your registration so if you have ideas please let us know. 

The Society's AGM took place in July and we are delighted to welcome Professor Will Pope as our new Chair. We also cannot pass without saying a huge ‘thank you’ to Dr Peter Matthews for all of his hard work during his two years as Chair.

We are also delighted that Martin Baxter, Chief Policy Advisor at IEMA, was elected as the Registration Authority Chair. Martin will lead our Registration Authority to continue to ensure that our CEnv and REnvTech standards are consistently applied and the competences required continue to meet the needs of employers, decision makers and of course the environment.

I would like to take this opportunity to highlight that the Society is a member of ENEP (the European Network of Environmental Professionals), which provides an excellent mechanism for our registrants to build and maintain European wide connections. ENEP has a web platform for its members, which include Chartered Environmentalists and Registered Environmental Technicians. If you are yet to sign up please visit the ENEP website. Signing up gives you access to, and an individual profile on, the online directory of European environmental professionals, as well as access to additional website content. 

In addition to the above, in my new role within the Executive Committee at ENEP, I look forward to continuing to provide our registrants with a forum for collaboration across Europe.

Lastly, the Society’s team will be supporting and attending a number of exciting events over the next few months, including RWM, Flood Expo 2017, IAgrE Landwards Conference and the latest Castle Debate. Please come along and have a chat with the team.

Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to our inaugural Newsletter through which we will share with you the work of the Society and our professional registrants. We will highlight opportunities for you to get involved, be it through championing the work of environmental professionals, being part of our events or making sure your voice is heard. We will also share with you our insights on the environmental profession.

We hope that you will find great value in its content.
